Cambridge Major Laboratories (Germantown, WI) has appointed University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, University Distinguished Professor James Cook as scientific advisor. Cook's expertise in heterocycle
chemistries and medicinal chemistry focus will help advance Cambridge
Major's development of compounds as active pharmaceutical
ingredients. He is the newest member of the company's growing
international scientific advisory team.
Deborah Dunsire, formerly head of Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corporation's North
American Oncology Operations, has been named the new president and chief executive officer of Millennium Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (Cambridge, MA).
The Drug Information Association (Horsham, PA) named William J. Brassington, CPA, to its management team as chief financial officer. Brassington
will be responsible for controller tasks, budgeting and forecasting,
treasury duties, and the financial components of the organization's
long term plans.
West Pharmaceutical Services (Lionville, PA) has promoted Steven A. Ellers to president and chief operating officer, effectively
immediately. Ellers joined the company in 1983 and is currently the
president of its Pharmaceutical Systems business.
SAFE-BioPharma Association (Whitehouse Station, NJ) has appointed Mollie Shields-Uehling as president and chief executive officer of the
association. Before joining SAFE-BioPharma Association, Shields-Uehling
was the principal of Shields-Uehling Associates, an international
public affairs consultancy.
AdipoGenix Inc. (Boston, MA) has appointed Nils Bergenhem as chief scientific officer. Bergenhem will oversee
internal drug discovery and development programs, including the
advancement of the company's proprietary lead compounds, "AGX-0104" and
"AGX-0119." toward IND filings.
Symphogen A/S (Copenhagen, Denmark) has named Paul Rohricht as vice-president of business development. In his role,
Rohricht will be responsible for the worldwide business development of
Symphogen's product portfolio.
Alfacell Corporation (Bloomfield, NJ) has appointed Jacob V. Maizel, Jr, and Susanna Rybak, both from the National Institutes of Health, to the company's
scientific advisory board. Maizel and Rybak will work closely with
David Sidransky, Chairman of the company's scientific advisory board,
and other members to help develop the company's proprietary
ribonuclease technology.
Todd DeVore has joined AcuTemp (Dayton, OH) as director of product development and
engineering. DeVore will be responsible for leading the development of
the company's product line, and for overseeing and implementing
